Joining the Red Hat Society is a wonderful way to meet new people. It is also a fun way to celebrate life. Members of the Red Hat Society are constantly getting together to celebrate with each other in fun and exciting ways.
If you decide to become a member of the Red Hat Society you can do so in two different ways. You can choose to be a Red Hat Member, or you can choose to be a Queen. They both have similar advantages, with a few differences.
Both Queens and Supporting members will receive information about the Red Hat Society. Everyone in the RHS receives constant emails with updates and other fun and exciting announcements. They will also all receive invitations for any events that are being put on by the RHS.
Queens and Members also have access to online forums. These forums and chat rooms allow everyone in RHS to stay connected with everyone in the organization. They can stay connected with everyone, which includes members in different Countries around the world. There are also exclusive online advantages for all members of RHS. Everyone can all have access to discussion boards, chapter searching, the event calendar that advertises upcoming RHS events.
Everyone in the RHS can also take advantage of the Red Hat Society Supporting Member cards. All members also receive a quarterly newsletter digitally. All members also receive an important membership guide to help them understand how the Red Hat Society works, so they can get the most out of their experience.
Everyone also receives discounts through the Super Savings program. The Super Savings program gives members discounts on official events and attractions, shopping, entertainment, etc. You can find savings when buying your children poodle skirts for their dance recitals, or savings on sending flowers to a friend who is in the hospital. The Super Savings program can save you a lot of money on common items.
Queens, however, have some exclusivity that members don’t have. Queens receive Queen to Queen monthly emails with updates of the Queen activities. Queens are also in charge of their chapter information, so they can let the RHS know whether they are open to receiving new members to their chapter. They also are the ones that communicate with RHS leaders.
There are different fees for these memberships. Red Hat Members pay a small fee of $20, and Queens only a little more at $39 annually. If you originally decide to be a Supporting Member and change your mind later, you can easily upgrade your membership to that of Queen.

Women are suppose to be great nurtures as mothers and yet, we somehow expect them to be **** and alluring figures as well. In today’s modern society, we have women which have broken all the glass ceilings and are leading major companies, countries, and paving the way for all women. These women are independent strong, and all of the above. One has to wonder if we are asking far too much from women today.
It’s almost as if we want them to straddle this impossible fence of hypocrisy, while society continues to complicate the issues, meanwhile the debate rages on. Many women have grown tired of all this, who can blame them? Perhaps, society needs to take a deep breath and step back, and allow each woman to live their own lives on their terms? What is with all this duality and what we expect of today’s woman?
Well, indeed, and that fine line is in the eyes of others, and if one choices to live their lives for the whole of society and accept such nonsense, in order to be “accepted” then that is up to them. However, in doing so these women trap themselves to a life of pleasing the mass mob, which only rewards them when they comply, and as long as they don’t step on anyone else’s toes.
Groucho Marx said it best; “why would I wish to join a group that would have me as a member?” If you choose to join and acquiesce, you have to give up self for the privilege, but if a group requires giving up self for membership, only someone who is naive would give up very much. Maybe it’s time we rethink the stigmas of what society “thinks” is appropriate for women, and allow each woman the freedom and liberty to choose her own destiny. Please consider all this.

It is through this process that we negotiate, through constant self-development, our position as to where we fit in. Once our role is defined, we begin the arduous task of becoming an integral part of this structure.
The road to socialization, however, is sometimes paved with boulders. Specifically, defining one’s gender role and how it relates to society’s expectations of what that role represents.
If it is true that “all the worlds’ a stage, and we are merely players in it,” then it is society that is choosing and directing the script. It is the process by which we act out the parts of this script that determines our successes and failures.
When I attended high school in the 60’s, the curriculum consisted of business courses designed for executive positions. I worked diligently toward this goal and eventually became an executive secretary. While I thought this career was the “Cadillac” of positions, and thus I never dreamed of pursuing anything else, nor did I feel that I had the attributes to attain a higher position in the workforce.
This is what I worked so hard to achieve and yet, many years later I asked myself: “Is that all there is?” While I knew I had potential, I nonetheless knew “my place.”
Almost 45 years and many successful careers later, I have returned to the one facet of my life that I ignored – writing. My self-development was thwarted, not because of my unrealistic expectations, but because of the restrictions placed upon me by society’s definition of women in the workplace.
These standards were waiting for me on the stage along with my diploma. My lines had been written, but I never had the opportunity to read the entire script. Would it have made any difference if I had? Not likely. I embarked on a career that was equivalent to a high-powered corporate executive today. Have the agents of socialization changed the status of our role as women?
Case in point: In 1992, a statistic cited that out of the nations entire Congress, only 6% are women. It was stated that “Gender plays an important role in the selection of government positions based on ethnicity. Therefore, the choice will almost always be a man. He is more capable of getting funding for his campaign than his counterpart, whereas a woman will receive a token pledge.” During the 70s, if a woman ran for Congress, she would have probably received a $100.00 campaign donation versus a $1000 pledged to her counterpart.
Things are quite different today, as evidenced by the recent Presidential campaign. However, women have not gained as many seats in Congress as they should. Thus, the script needs to be re-worked.
Family, religion, education, politics, media hype, and peer pressure all contribute to the social polarization of women. These agents of socialization do affect the identity of the female role in today’s society. As one struggles to maintain individuality, it is amazing that anyone could survive the scrutiny that is dispensed by society.
Forty five years ago, I had the ability to climb the ladder of success. What I lacked, however, was the understanding that I could. Today, I have the ability to achieve and become the best at whatever I wish to be. What I gained is the understanding that I can.
