What are some of the positive effects of technology on society?

the only ones I can think of are medicine and health related, easier communication between people, machines for menial jobs that no one wants to do (although this also causes unemployment), easier access to information and more sanitation (although technology also causes more pollution).

Are there any ways to use technology to produce food?
Or any other ways technology helps society?
