Bush and Cheney have done far more to this end than the Hispanics you are vilifying. I know Bush speaks some spanish, but this is hardly a smoking gun.

My experience has been that hispanics do not learn the language and because of that they do not become assimilated into the greater society like just about every other immigrant group did, like our ancestors. It really bothers me when I see on the news interviews with hispanics who have been here for years and can not speak English. English needs to become the official language of the country. The constitution needs amending to say that babies born here are citizens ONLY if at least one parent is a citizen. Those anchor babies are killing us. I have NO PROBLEM with legal immigrants of any nationality, but the illegals must be stopped at the border. Are educational and health care systems are suffering. Hospitals are closing because of the burden of providing care to illegals.

We have been a country for 232 years and this attitude has been present in some people every time an ethnic group has migrated to the U.S.A.When the Irish came there were signs in store windows and places of business saying NO IRISH NEED APPLY.The Chinese were discriminated against and they help build the railroad from California and died by the hundreds.Not to mention the original Americans.Some tribes were completely wiped out and their land taken.We are a melting pot and I love Mexican food but my favorite is Thai.So get over it.I don’t like illegals but our country has a rich diversity.

I have a multicultural family and we celebrate polish, us, and Mexican holidays. That’s our choice you don’t have to celebrate anything. I have never seen a Mexican or any other South of the border flags anywhere except for in Mexican restaurants.
