What are the negative effects that mass media has on society?
I am doing a persuasive speech for an english assignment and the topic is that mass media has a negative effect on society. What are some good ideas for this topic? so far i have, that the media only tell us what they want us to know, therefore we make assumptions on situations without all the facts. also information on the internet can be changed and can spread extremely fast. as a result of this Society is mislead about events or peoples careers and lives (usually celebrities) can be destroyed. Please help me!!

The media is *SUPPOSED* to be the watchdog on government. Media companies have less money to spend on staff to investigate, follow, and be watchdogs (newspapers in particular have lower circulation due to the internet/poor content).
