How old do Society Finches have to be to mate?
I have 3 society finches: 1 female and 2 males. They’re around 6-7 months old. I will be getting a female Society finch of the same age and also from the same place these 3 came from. How old do they have to be in order to mate and lay eggs? Thanks!

Marketing Strategies
Society finches should be at least six to nine months old to start breeding. Society finches often try to breed at an eariler age, but they aren’t as likely to be as successful at breeding. Younger finches are more likely to have infertile eggs or not be good parents. Make sure your society finches are in good breeding condition before breeding them. This means that they are healthy, are eating a well-balanced diet with plenty of calcium (cuttlebone and mineral block), and are the right age. Calcium is needed for good egg formation and to help prevent egg binding. Also, don’t breed any finches that are ill or molting. If in doubt about your finches’ health, you can take them for an exam at your avian vet to make sure they are healthy enough to breed.
Marketing Strategies
Society finches like all finches should be prevented from breeding till they are at least 12 months old.
That means you do not put in nesting boxes or materials which will encourage them to mate.
If allowed to breed before this then they could become egg bound and other complications can occur through early breeding
As an ex breeder of over 45 years experience I would not allow them to breed .
